TSKHINVALI, Georgia (AP) — Fighting has continued to rage in Ossetia as Russia launched an armored column into South Ossetia on Friday.

Russian forces have operated in the area as peacekeeper however, Georgian government has accused Russia of supporting the Separatist movement.

Russia has since launched air strikes against Georgia in response for Georgia's massive attack against the Georgian Separatists on Aug 8th.

The attacks devastated Tskhinvali and threatens a wider conflict between Russia and Georgia. Separatist claim that Georgia violated its own cease fire. However, Georgia claimed it was forced to launch military operations due to attacks by Separatist forces.

As the attacks came on the morning of the opening games of the Oylmpics, Diplomats have issued statements calling for a halt to all hostilities to prevent against and all out war.

The United Nations vow to send in special peacekeeping units if peace is not returned to the region by late October.
